Major Sandeep UnnikrishnanOn 26 January 2009 Rajeev Chandrasekhar presented a cheque of Rs 25 Lakh to Mr. Unnikrishnan senior. Major Unnikrishnan sacrificed his life while fighting terrorists in the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. Major Unnikrishnan’s family was the first recipient of Flags of Honour Foundations’ grant.
Colonel Jojan Thomas On 25 July 2009 Lt. General Satish Nambiar (retd) (PVSM, AVSM, VrC), presented a cheque of Rs 5 Lakh to Colonel Thomas's family. Colonel Jojan Thomas was martyred in an encounter with militants in Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir.
CRPF Jawan Shivappa On 9 April, 2010 Flags of Honour Foundation presented a cheque for Rs. 2 Lakh to B.S. Nethravathi, widow of CRPF Jawan Shivappa, who was one of the 75 CRPF men killed by Naxals in Chattisgarh on 6 April, 2010.
Late Major Dharam Chand On 21 September 2010 Monetary assistance of Rs 10,000/- was extended to Smt Pushpa Vanti, widow of late Major Dharam Chand residing in Meerut Cantt, Uttar Pradesh.
Late Sep. Satpal Singh On 22 September 2010 Flags of Honour Foundation granted financial assistance to Smt Lila Devi, wife of Sep. Satpal Sigh, 6 Rajput, residing in Vill. & PO SANGHOL, Khumano, Fatehgarh Sahib Distt. Punjab. Smt Lila Devi was a non-pensioner. Grant extended:
Constable Bheema Shankar Hadapad On 16 December 2010 Rs. 1 Lakh was granted to Smt Shreedevi mother of Cnstb. Bheemshankar Hadapad at Narohana village, Alland Taluk, Gulbarga District. Cnstb Bheemshankar, 25 Btn BSF made the supreme sacrifice on 29 August 2010, while fighting naxalites in Chattsigarh.
Rifleman K.S. Ravindra On 16 December 2010 Rs. 1 lakh was granted to Smt S. Sharda, mother of Rifleman K. S. Ravindra, residing at Village Bengunada Badaga, Cherambane PO Madikeri, Kodagu Distt., Karnataka. Rifleman Ravindra, Madras Regiment, the supreme sacrifice on 6 September 2010, in a gunbattle with terrorists at Kimsar-Bonar Nala Junction, Jammu and Kashmir.
Late Gunner S Penchalaiah On 26 July 2011 Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka B. S. Yeddyurappa and Founder & Chairman Rajeev Chandrasekhar, MP handed over cheque of Rs 53, 393/- to Veer Nari Smt S Penchalamma wife of Gunner S. Penchalaiah, towards full reimbursement of her medical expenses. This was done during the commemoration day of Kargil Diwas at National Military Memorial, Bengaluru.
Company Quartermaster Havildar Abdul Hamid, PVC On 21 October 2011 Flags of Honour Foundation extended Rs 2 Lakh and fifteen thousand as financial assistance to Smt Rasulan Bibi, wife of PVC Com. QM Hav. Abdul Hamid for repair of her house at Dhampur Village, Ghazipur Distt., Uttar Pradesh.
Lance Naik Tapan Kumar On 24 January 2013 The trustees of the Flags of Honour Foundation granted an amount of Rs. 37,800/- for procuring one Braille based computer system. Ln. Nk. Tapan Kumar, 18 Mahar Regiment, is a war wounded visually handicapped veteran from Nadia, West Bengal.
CRPF Constable Sathish AnOn 13 March 2013 Flags of Honour Foundation had presented a cheque for Rs. 2 lakh to the Mrs. Savithramma, mother of the martyr on 16 March 2013 at his native village Halabady, Krishna Rajendra Pet Taluk, Mandya Distt. Const.Sathish was martyred while fighting foreign terrorists at Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir.
Bty, Hav. Maj. C. Yogananda On 17 June 2013 Flags of Honour Foundation presented a cheque of Rs. 2 Lakh to Mrs. Mrs.Lakshmi wife of Bty Hav Maj C Yogananda, Artillery. A a resident of Agrahara Village of Channarayapatna, Hassan District, Karnataka, he was martyred in Siachen area (OP MEGHDOOT), Leh & Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir on the night of 07/08 June 2013 while on patrol duty.
WW-II Veteran Sep. Narindar Singh On 11 Oct 2013 A 96 year old WW-II Veteran Sep Narindar Singh of Mohali, Punjab, was fighting the Government of India legally for a respectable pension as paid by the Government of Kerala for similarly placed WW-II veterans from their state. The Flags of honour Foundation awarded the first cheque of a lifetime pension of Rs 3000/- per month during a function held to honour the veteran at Mohali on 11 Oct 2013 and he will keep receiving the pension throughout his life.
Havildar Mallapa Channalli On 18 November 2014 Flags of Honour Foundation presented Rs. 2 Lakh to Smt Jayashree, wife of Hav. Channalli. He was martyred on 8 November 2014 while responding to unprovoked firing on the Indian forward post in the Pando Sector, Uri, Jammu & Kashmir.
Being conscious of the hardships faced in North - East part of India owing to inadequate infrastructure and remoteness, the Flags of Honour Foundation launched an initiative to provide financial assistance to Veer Naris (wives of martyrs), widows of soldiers and veterans including those who served the Army during World War II and are over 90 years of age.
We identified genuine deserving families and extended financial assistance to 12 cases in Manipur. Notably the first set of cheques were handed over to the 12 Beneficiaries on 14 Oct 2014 with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur and General Officer Commanding 3 Corps doing the honours during the ‘HAMARE HAATH AAPKE SAATH’ ESM Rally organized at Leimakhong and attended by over 2000 ESM. Also present at the Rally were the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, military and political dignitaries.
These include 3 World War II Veterans who have been provided a one-time grant of Rs 25,000.00 plus a monthly pension of Rs 2000.00 for life time. The other 9 beneficiaries i.e. 3 Veer Naris, 3 widows and 3 retired soldiers will receive monthly pension ranging between Rs 6000.00 to Rs 2000.00 per month.
